Can light really kill bacteria?

GermLid is used alongside regular cleaning, not instead of it. No germ, odor or health claims are made for this model.
P.S. We'd rather tell you exactly what GermLid is than oversell it. It's a small, simple lamp that gives your clean a clear finishing step. It doesn't replace your cleaner, and we don't claim it kills germs. If it doesn't earn its place in your bathroom, the 30-day guarantee has you covered.

Summarised from our research into household gadget buyersA small white lamp, about 7.3 × 4.3 × 2.3 cm, with four LEDs, one button and a USB-C port. It mounts inside your toilet lid.
Some light can. Lab studies show UV-C light in a specific range (around 254–280 nm) damages the DNA of germs at the right dose and distance. Ordinary visible or blue light does not do this, and a glow alone proves nothing. GermLid's LED output hasn't been independently lab-tested yet, so we don't claim it kills germs. We'll publish the test results here once we have them.
Yes. GermLid is a finishing step used alongside your regular cleaning. It doesn't scrub or remove dirt.
It sits on the underside of the lid. Check the lid still closes flush once it's mounted.

Most gadgets end up in a drawer. This one is built not to.
Household gadgets usually get abandoned for the same reasons: fiddly settings, constant charging, or no clear reason to use them. GermLid is designed around each one.
Small, simple, and nothing extra.
Similar lamps are easy to find. Knowing what you bought isn't.
If the last gadget you bought came with no size, no instructions and no one to ask, that's the difference.
GermLid is used alongside regular cleaning, not instead of it. No germ, odor or health claims are made for this model.

Questions, answered straight.
A palm-sized lamp that mounts inside your toilet lid. It has four built-in LEDs, one button and a USB-C charging port.
After you clean, close the lid and press the button. The four LEDs switch on inside the closed lid. It works alongside your routine, and we make no germ, odor or health claims for this model.
UV-C light (roughly 254–280 nm) is used in hospitals and water treatment because it damages the DNA and RNA of germs so they can't multiply. It only works at the right wavelength, strength and exposure time. Visible blue or purple light doesn't, and a glow you can see isn't proof of UV-C. We haven't yet had GermLid's exact LEDs independently measured, so we make no germ-killing claim for this model. When a lab report is ready, we'll share the full results, including the wavelength, test conditions and safety notes.
